First-Time Homebuyer Concerns: Leaks and Damp Issues?

Hi everyone! I'm a 23-year-old girl on the journey to buy my first home, and I need some advice. I've been eyeing a house for a few weeks and have an online viewing scheduled for next Monday. It's a bit of a trek for me, about two hours away, so I thought it best to check it out online first. The listing mentions a leak at the dormer window that was fixed back in 2017, as well as some rising damp in the hallway. I'm a bit worried about these issues. I also noticed that some flooring is missing in the kitchen and bedroom, plus there are some random cables lying around. The ceiling beams and overall condition of the walls look off as well. Given these details, what should I focus on or be cautious about when I look at the pictures?

If there's a damp spot inside, you might have some serious problems down the line. Those issues can get complicated and costly to fix. Make sure to ask more questions about it during the online viewing. The fact that the house is made of stone and concrete could help, but damp is still a red flag. Keep an eye on that hallway issue and consider getting a professional inspection if you’re serious about it.

Yeah, that hallway damp seems like it should be your top concern. Don't hesitate to ask the seller for more details about any previous repairs!
