Thinking About Upgrading to a Big Shower – Need Some Advice!

My wife and I are really unhappy with our current bathroom setup. The shower is cramped, and since we have another full bathroom with a tub and a new hot tub outside, we just don't need this jacuzzi tub. We're considering removing the tub and replacing it with one large shower. We also want to get rid of the window above the tub since there's a similar window right next to it. We envision a spacious shower with two shower heads—one coming from the ceiling and the other positioned lower so we can shower together comfortably. I'm curious if tile would be the best option for the shower. What kind of project are we looking at? Is this feasible? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Absolutely possible! Removing the window shouldn’t be too complex, though matching the exterior surface might require some extra work. You’ll need to do some plumbing adjustments for the multiple shower heads. It sounds like you have plenty of room to create an awesome shower setup. You could even fit a tall cabinet for storing towels on the side where the tub used to be!

The exterior is siding, so I’m sure it won’t match perfectly, but it shouldn't look too off either. We do have a closet on the other side, but some extra storage would be nice. Just wondering if I can cap the current tub valves and drain without messing with the ceiling below.

I've got a bathroom layout just like yours! I think it’s definitely doable to create a larger shower. I do wonder how it might look, but if it works for you, go for it! Just make sure that the space will feel right once it's done.

We got inspired on our recent vacation to Mexico where we had a huge shower. It was perfect for us! You might want to think about adding some extra storage on the far side since you’ll have more space to work with.
