I tried a DIY method I found online for getting perfect paint lines, and it involved putting a thin bead of caulk over tape to prevent paint from bleeding. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that I used non-paintable caulk, and now my paint won't adhere. There's a really thin layer of this caulk on my wall that I can't scrape off. I've attempted to do so but it's just too thin. Should I be using a solvent or is there another method I could try?

Another option is sanding it off. I prefer that method because I'm concerned that solvents might affect the material underneath, especially if you just painted it recently. Just be gentle to avoid damaging the wall.
You could also consider applying a shellac-based primer like Zinsser BIN over the caulk. It might help seal it and allow you to paint without issue. If it shows through, you can always sand it down later.
Great idea! I didn't think of that. I'll try it and see if it works before I resort to sanding.
You might want to use isopropyl alcohol to help dissolve that non-paintable caulk. It can be effective without damaging the underlying surface. Just dab a bit on a cloth and gently wipe the area.
Thank you! I'll give that a shot.

Yeah, that's why I was hesitant about the solvent. Thanks for the tip!
