Need Help Installing My Curtain Rod – Is Something Wrong with the Anchors?

I'm trying to put up a curtain rod and I'm feeling a bit confused. I have a drill bit that's supposed to be 1/8 inch and two wall anchors that came with it. The left anchor is for drywall and the right one is for masonry. My issue is that the left anchor seems way too big for the hole I drilled. I've tried to fit it into the hole, but it just won't go in. Am I missing something here or have I gotten the wrong size anchor?

Check the top of the left anchor! There should be a cross opening for a Phillips screwdriver. It's meant to screw into the drywall like a big screw. You shouldn't have to drill it in if you're using the right type of anchor.

For the left anchor, you actually don't need to use the drill bit; it's self-drilling! Just screw it in with a Phillips screwdriver. If you're having issues, you can use a nail to create a tiny guide hole to help prevent it from slipping. Also, if you're hanging curtains, make sure you're not hitting wood studs, which might mean you don’t even need an anchor!

Are you sure about that 1/8 size? That definitely doesn’t fit those plugs well. Sometimes the instructions can be misleading. If the screw fits into the anchor, you should be fine. You might need a bigger drill bit for the anchor itself but double-check to be safe!
