Best Tips for Installing Crown Molding in a Shower Area?

Asked By CraftyNinja82 On

I'm looking to add crown molding from my drywall to the shower panel, especially because there's a 1/4" transition that I want to cover up. It looks pretty rough right now. However, I'm a bit worried that using crown molding might trap moisture behind it. Is that a valid concern, and what would be the best way to install it?

Using PVC plastic molding is a solid choice! It's waterproof and won't absorb any moisture like wood will. Just make sure to caulk any gaps when you're done. That will help prevent steam from getting trapped behind it.

That's what I was thinking, but what about the space behind the crown? I know it can be caulked, but does that really hold up against steam? Just a little worried about moisture issues.
