Hey everyone! I'm new here and could really use your advice. I'm working on a project with my sibling, where we're creating a backdrop for an amiibo. We need to loop a simple 8-second pixel art animation behind it. Ideally, we're looking for a lightweight and budget-friendly option without needing any fancy controls, though a light sensor would be a nice bonus. Right now, we're using a small generic Android tablet, which we bought for around $40, but I feel like there might be a simpler and cheaper solution out there. Any suggestions?

Using a Raspberry Pi with a 7-inch display from Adafruit is a solid option! You can use VLC Player to loop the video easily. Just make sure to check the resolution and frame rate compatibility. It should work pretty well for your setup.

But isn’t that going to be bulkier and maybe just as pricey as the Android tablet?
