I'm about to wallpaper a wall in my bathroom, and I want to attach a wooden trim vertically, like a chair rail, to edge the wallpaper neatly. My walls are made of drywall, and the trim won't be placed over a stud. What's the best way to securely attach the trim? Additionally, I'm looking for recommendations on supplies I might need for this project. Should I apply caulk along the edges of the trim for a finished look? Thanks in advance!

Absolutely, construction adhesive works well! Look for a fast grab variety for the best results. If you're planning to paint the trim later, consider using wall anchors with screws recessed into the wall to keep everything flush. Just fill, sand, and paint over those spots.
Using construction adhesive is a great option to attach your trim to the wall. To hold it in place while it sets, you can drive in a few short nails at an angle into the drywall. This should give your trim a solid hold without needing a stud.
You can also go with Liquid Nails or a similar product. It provides a strong bond and should work nicely for securing your trim on drywall.
