I'm in the market for a house and I found one that ticks almost all my boxes. It's beautiful and has a decent yard, but there's a major drawback: the main bedroom has a really tiny closet. I've seen other houses that cost more, yet I haven't found one I like as much as this one. I'm considering making an addition to create a proper closet. Am I being unreasonable thinking about this? Would potential buyers be turned off by the small closet later on?

It's definitely not crazy, but just keep in mind that adding a closet to the existing space might be easier and cheaper. You could do a small reno for around $1k instead of a full addition that could run you $30k. It's a lot less hassle if you work within the current layout.
Honestly, a temporary solution could be to just get an armoire for now. I grew up with homes that had small closets, and that worked fine for us! If you’re really set on a full addition, maybe think about how much you want to spend—sometimes it’s more about just making space in the current layout than building out. Keep it simple!
How much experience do you have with construction? If you’re considering a full addition, it’s a big project involving permits and more. If that seems daunting, you could also just knock down some walls to enlarge your current closet space. If you can sacrifice a little square footage from another room and it’s not load-bearing, that could be a relatively quick and cheaper fix!
I’ve handled quite a few projects, acting as my own contractor, but I'm not a pro. The closet is tight since the walls are pretty much framed by the shower and outside walls. There’s a potential wall behind it that leads to a half bath, but I’m unsure about taking that down without a pro's opinion.

Exactly! No need to overspend on extra space for clothes. Just buy the nice house and declutter a bit.
