Hey everyone! I've just moved into a new house and noticed that there are mini electric water heaters installed under the sinks in both the primary bath and kitchen. I'm curious if there are benefits to having these, aside from not having to wait for hot water. I recently disconnected the one in the primary bath and connected it directly to the main hot water supply, and it seems to work just fine after a small wait. Was the previous homeowner just not patient enough?

Mini electric water heaters can be super handy in certain situations. If they’re set up properly, they can save a lot of water by providing hot water instantly. However, it really depends on factors like how far the main water heater is from the taps and the specific type of mini heater installed. Try running the faucet after a while of not using the hot water and time how long it takes to get hot. That should help you decide if keeping them is worth it!

Just a heads up – your main hot water might never reach the sink if it's hooked to the cold line only!
