I'm in a tough spot here with my special needs child who just can't leave the drywall alone. He has a habit of picking at the top layer over the screw heads and even peeling the paper off if he gets a chance. It might not sound like a big deal, but I'm finding more holes in the walls every single day, and it's really stressing me out! I've tried various drywall patch products, but no matter what I do—patching, sanding, painting—he just goes right back to it. I'd estimate there are about 30-40 holes in my small house at any given time! I can't stand looking at them, and fixing them just for them to get wrecked again is super frustrating. I'm wondering if there's a more permanent solution I can use to fill these holes, something he can't easily pick out, like Liquid Nails or superglue? Would wallpaper be tougher for him? I can't afford expensive renovations like beadboard or wainscoting. He even reaches up high to create holes above head level. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! (And please, no suggestions for sensory toys—I've bought him a sheet of drywall just for that, and he won't touch it; he only cares about the walls!)

Another option is to cover the walls with paneling or FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) panels. They’re sturdy and could withstand some wear and tear. Plus, they look nice while being functional, which could be a good solution for your situation!
You might want to try using hot mud or USG Easy Sand 5! Those products set quickly and create a strong bond. They're tough enough that even if your little one has an eye for the screw heads, he might not be able to pick at those like he can with regular patches. Just a heads up, though, if he’s really dedicated, he might still find a way!

Lol, thanks! I’ll definitely give it a shot! No joke, it's like he has a superpower for finding those screw heads even when they’re totally hidden!
