I'm trying to find the most efficient method for covering a 6x4 metre lean-to roof using 2.4m x 1.2m plywood sheets. The roof has cross beams for support spaced every 1m along the 6m length. Any suggestions on how to do this while minimizing waste?

It sounds like you’ve got a good start! First off, it’s usually easier if the frame is built in a way that aligns with your plywood sizes. If it’s already up, you might need to either block out some supports at the joints or cut the sheets down to 1m or 2m wide, which might mean some waste. Just be sure the edges of the plywood meet over the rafters for better stability!
You’ll need around 9 sheets since you’re covering 24 square meters (each sheet is about 2.88 m²). Keep in mind that if you don’t add support blocking at the joints, you might end up with seams that aren't stable. A neat solution could be ripping some sheets to 1m wide, and some to the length you need to avoid any overhang.
If you want to avoid overhang, you might consider using at least 10 sheets. The 6m length fits 5 sheets perfectly. You'd just need to cut 5 of them to 1.6m long and add some blocks for support at the seams. Make sure to think about adding extra rafters if the roof will be exposed to the weather, as wider spacing could lead to sagging.
