I've been experiencing a horrible smell coming from my dishwasher that really resembles something died in it. I've already cleaned the filter, ran a load with bleach, and even tried the cleaning cycle. Unfortunately, the smell tends to come back after just a day or two. I've only been living here for 8 months, and this issue has only cropped up in the last few weeks. Since I rent, I'd prefer not to inconvenience my landlord unless absolutely necessary. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Have you checked the float cup at the bottom of the tub? Sometimes debris can accumulate there and cause odors, and it's pretty easy to clean it out. Might help with the smell!
It might be the drain hose that’s causing the smell. Over time, they can accumulate a lot of nasty sludge inside. It’s worth checking it out! You might find some gunk in there that needs cleaning.
Honestly, since you’re renting, I’d suggest letting your landlord handle it. If something needs professional attention, like plumbing or electrical work, it’s better they know. I totally get wanting to save them a trip for minor things, but you don’t want to risk it if it’s something major.
