How Can I Create Great Soil for My Raised Garden Beds?

Hey everyone! I recently built a couple of raised garden beds as a surprise for my girlfriend. I thought I could just use some compost and dirt, but it turns out I underestimated the soil requirements! I really want to make sure this project is a success. I've also picked up some peat moss and perlite. Would mixing these four materials together create good soil for the beds? Am I missing anything else? My girlfriend is super excited to start gardening, so I'm eager to get everything ready!

Honestly, what's wrong with the compost and soil mix you have? Many plants can thrive with just that combo. If it seems a bit heavy or dense, adding peat moss and perlite will definitely help lighten it up and improve drainage. You're just fine, so no need to stress about it too much!

You've actually got all the right ingredients for a nice custom soil mix! Just blend the compost, dirt, peat moss, and perlite together, and you should be set to go. This combination will provide good drainage while retaining moisture, which is ideal for growing plants. Don't overthink it; you're on the right track!
