How Can I Fix a Circuit Breaker That Trips When I Use Both AC and Microwave?

I'm having an issue with my circuit breaker. It seems to trip whenever I use my AC and then turn on the microwave. I suspect it's due to the fact that the circuit is shared among three rooms in my house. Is there a cost-effective and safe way to address this problem?

It's not broken, but if you're not familiar with electrical work, it's safer to call a pro. Look at your breaker panel to see if there's room for more breakers—an electrician can really help with that. They'll know if you can separate your microwave and AC without running new lines.

Got it! I'll check out the panel before deciding to call an electrician.

The breaker is actually functioning as it should. Ideally, your microwave and AC should each have their own circuits since they use a lot of power. If your house has an older wiring system, putting them on separate circuits could be necessary.

I figured as much, but would that mean I need to overhaul my entire electrical system? It seems like my house's circuit setup is pretty old.

One simple way to handle this is to just avoid using both appliances at the same time. If it's really a hassle, consider relocating the microwave to another room that's on a different circuit.

I get that, but I really don't want to keep asking if the AC is on. Plus, my kitchen doesn't have much extra space.
