Can I Recover My Fully Drained Dewalt Battery?

Asked By GizmoGuru92 On

I accidentally left my 5 Ah Dewalt battery connected to a cheap LED light that stays partially on, and it's completely drained after 6 days. Now I've put it in a charger, but the lights aren't showing any signs of life. Is there any way to bring this battery back to life?

You might be able to jump start the battery using another charged Dewalt battery. Just connect them for about 30 seconds to a minute. Just a heads up, always be cautious when doing this!

Thanks, that really helped me revive my battery!

Be careful with that method; over-discharging lithium-ion batteries can be risky!

If you have a non-automatic car charger, you can try this: take two small strips of metal and insert them into the positive and negative terminals of your battery. Then connect your charger to those. Leave it for about 30 minutes at 2 amps, then switch it to the Dewalt charger after. This technique has worked better for some people.

Definitely sounds safer than the jump start method!
