I just picked up an American Standard Champion toilet to replace a cracked one at my cottage. When I flipped it to put on the wax seal, I discovered there's a crack at the bottom of the bowl drain passage. I'm currently testing to see if it's leaking by filling it with water and waiting 30 minutes. I'm hesitant to make a 3-hour round trip to the nearest hardware store if I don't have to. Should I be concerned about this crack? Any advice on whether I need to replace the toilet?

Any crack in a porcelain toilet is a big red flag. These things can break unexpectedly, and the shards can be incredibly dangerous. If you value your safety, replace it and don’t use it until you do!
Honestly, if there's a crack, you should replace it as soon as you can. It's risky to use a toilet that's compromised like that, especially since cracked porcelain can shatter. Better safe than sorry!
Without seeing the picture, it's tough to give a definite answer. But if you're worried enough to ask for advice, it might be best to go ahead and swap it out. You don’t want to deal with the hassle and cost of a sudden failure later on.

Totally agree! I had a similar situation, and it was a nightmare. Better to pay now than deal with danger later.
