I've heard some chatter about Dewalt possibly discontinuing their 12V tool line. Has anyone heard anything official about this, or is it just speculation? It seems like there haven't been many updates or new tools released in a while. What's the deal?

Dewalt isn't killing off their 12V tools—they'll still be around for a while. However, it’s clear that they’ve stopped expanding this line, so don't expect new tools or updates in the future. They haven't been investing in it at all lately.
Nah, I don't think they're ditching the 12V tools just yet! They've got solid offerings, especially with their best power ratchet still being 12V. I wouldn’t worry about the batteries vanishing anytime soon, but I do suspect that new tools for the 12V line might become scarce.
There's been a lot of talk, but no solid confirmation from Dewalt about dropping the 12V extreme line. Some sales folks have hinted that we might not see much development for it anymore, and honestly, it looks like they haven't been focusing on this line for ages. They've released some tools in the 20V range that had earlier 12V versions, like the 5-way drill driver, but it's all pretty hush-hush right now.
