Creative Uses for DeWalt Tools: Weed Removal Experiment

Asked By CraftyCactus42 On

I recently found myself in a bit of a predicament while trying to remove two stubborn chain link fence posts. After struggling to dig them out, I decided to use my DeWalt oscillating tool with a metal cutting bit instead. To my surprise, it worked surprisingly well, and I managed to get the posts out somewhat easily. After that, I noticed my yard was overrun with dandelions, so I thought, why not give the oscillating tool a shot at weed removal? I cut the roots of a few dandelions, and they popped right out with minimal damage to the lawn. It felt like overkill using the metal bit, but I ended up clearing an entire pail of weeds in half the time compared to my usual method. Has anyone else found unconventional ways to use their DeWalt tools?

If you want to stick with your oscillating tool, check out some specialized accessories for gardening! There are specific bits that might help you tackle those roots better. And for what it’s worth, here's a cool weeder I found: https://grampasweeder.com/collections/grampas-gardenware/products/grampas-weeder

I’ve seen a few posts where people use multi-tools in the garden. Your method might not get everything, but if it’s working for you—who cares? Just enjoy more time outside!

Exactly! If it's saving time and effort, then I say go for it!

I get what you're doing, but just remember—if you're cutting the plants, you're likely leaving behind the roots! You might want to invest in a proper weeding tool that can pop them out intact which is super quick and effective!

True, but for light work, the cutting method isn't too bad. Just a different approach!
