How Can I Effectively Replace Grass with Mulch in My Yard?

Hey everyone! I just bought a house that was in pretty rough shape, and I've managed to remove most of the weeds. Now I'm focusing on getting rid of the grass in my front yard to create a space for a picnic table or something similar. I have a lovely tree there, and I'm not a fan of grass. My plan is to cut down the remaining weeds, lay down a landscape liner to prevent more weeds, and then cover everything with mulch. Is this really as easy as it sounds?

You might want to think about using pavers instead of just going with mulch alone. Mulch can lead to a lot of weeds, and you’ll have to keep replacing it regularly. Plus, you're likely to end up with weeds regardless of whether you use landscape fabric or not. That stuff can make a mess and creates unnecessary plastic waste. Instead, consider making a paver area for entertaining and perhaps use some low-growing plants around it to fill in the space without needing to mow.
