How can I tell if I’m watering my cucumbers too much or too little?

I'm new to growing cucumbers and I'm confused about their watering needs. I've been giving them about 2-4 gallons of water almost daily, but they seemed droopy yesterday. I added a couple more gallons, yet this morning they're still drooping. The soil feels pretty moist to me. Any advice on how to tell if I'm overwatering or underwatering them?

From what I see in the picture, it looks like your cucumbers are mostly fine! Just keep in mind that during the hot summer days, it's normal for them to droop a bit in the afternoon due to high sunlight. A little wilting is their way of coping, but just keep an eye on them and don’t stress too much!

That's a great point! Just remember to keep an eye out for any yellowing leaves, as that could be a sign of trouble.

It sounds like you might be overwatering your cucumbers! Both overwatering and underwatering can cause drooping leaves, which makes it tricky. Try letting the top inch of the soil dry out before watering again. It’s all about finding that balance!

Got it, I’ll try to ease off on the watering. Today’s overcast, so it’ll be a good time to see how they do without extra water.
