Is Installing Solar Panels on the Reef a Smart Move?

I'm living on a small island that's about 11km long, and we have this massive reef that extends over twice the size of our land. I'm considering using a few acres for solar panels, but I'm worried about the effects of saltwater on the panels and the maintenance costs. Plus, I'm curious if the shadows from the panels would impact the reef's marine life. What do you all think?

If you're thinking of putting solar panels on a coral reef, that's a big no-go. Coral reefs are super delicate and are already under threat, so anything added on top could really harm them and the marine life that relies on them. Plus, the costs to set up the structure to hold the panels could be pretty steep. I'd recommend using the land you have instead of disturbing the reef.
