Help! My Tile Installer Made a Dusty Mess Inside My House—How Can I Clean This Up?

We recently bought a home and are in the process of renovating it before we move in. Unfortunately, due to a work trip and various other delays, we couldn't supervise the tile installation. When we returned, we found that the installers had cut the tiles inside the house, leaving everything covered in a thick layer of dust. I've tried cleaning the kitchen counters, but I'm worried we'll never get rid of all this mess. Does anyone have tips or advice on how to tackle this cleaning nightmare?

I totally agree with getting the installers to take responsibility! They should be held accountable for making your home so dusty. It's not fair to leave you with all this cleanup, especially when there are professional cleaners who can do a thorough job. Honestly, it might save you a lot of time and effort in the long run.

If they were cutting tiles inside without proper precautions, that's just a lack of professionalism. Make sure to check if your air conditioning system was affected. If the air intake vents were left uncovered, the dust could have gotten into your ducts and needs a deep cleaning too. But if the AC was off, you might be in the clear there.

It sounds like the installers went for a dry cut instead of using a wet saw, which can kick up a lot of dust. You should definitely bring this up with the foreman and let them know they need to cover the costs for a professional cleaning service that specializes in post-construction cleanouts. Trust me, you want someone who knows how to tackle this mess properly.
