How Can I Attach Earthquake Straps to My Water Heater in a Tight Space?

I've got a water heater that's squeezed into a small closet, and it's required to have earthquake straps installed. The problem is, I can't reach the back of the heater to attach the straps. Is there an easy way to get this done?

If you have someone to help, they can hold one side while you attach the strap on the other. Just be careful with your reach while you're at it!

You can attach the straps to the hard-to-reach side before you slide the water heater into place. Just make sure to secure them tightly! It's a bit of a maneuvering act, but it should get the job done.
