How to Start a Part-Time Gardening Business?

Hey everyone! I hope it's alright to post this here. I'm thinking about starting a part-time gardening business alongside my job in emergency services. Since I have quite a bit of time off due to my shifts, I want to fill that time with something I'm passionate about and maybe earn a little extra cash too.

I'm really into gardening—I have a large allotment where I mostly grow veggies, and while I almost went to horticultural college years ago, I ended up in some less satisfying jobs instead. Now, I want to turn my love for gardening into a side gig.

While I'm planning to take an RHS level 2 course to boost my skills, I'm starting from scratch here. I'm comfortable with basic gardening tasks like general maintenance, hedge trimming, and tidying up, but I'm not sure how to kick things off professionally. If anyone has experience setting up a gardening business from the ground up, I'd really appreciate any tips or insights you could share. Thanks! ?

I started my gardening business a while back and here's what I can tell you: invest in some quality petrol tools and make sure to get public liability insurance. Then, go all out on advertising—social media, a website, flyers, business cards... you name it! Always look professional and be sure to clean up after yourself; it helps you get repeat business. Stick to what you know at first, it makes things much easier. One fun tip I found really helped me was to learn and share an interesting gardening fact every day. People love that stuff! I was raking in about £400 a week in no time, which wasn't bad for part-time work. Trust me, just dive in!

Thanks for the solid tips! I definitely need to start taking action instead of overthinking everything—just a bit nervous about the unknown.
