I'm puzzled about my garden situation. I've got a 300 sq ft garden located in a right-of-way clearing amidst the woods in North East PA. Generally, I deal with a ton of cucumber beetles, squash vine borers, and squash bugs each year, starting around late June. However, this year, I've seen absolutely no bugs and there's no leaf damage either! I avoid using pesticides, so I'm really curious about what might have caused this change. Anyone have ideas?

It’s so strange, isn’t it? I live in SEPA, and I’ve noticed a significant drop in Japanese beetles too! Although, aphids and sawflies seem to be thriving, which is a bit concerning. Maybe there's been a shift in the local bug population or predators? Let’s hope this trend continues for you!
Winter was definitely harsher last year, at least where I am. The ground actually froze, which might’ve wiped out a good number of pests. Plus, barn swallows are back and do an incredible job at keeping bugs in check. Sounds like something similar might be happening in your area!
