I'm considering purchasing a deal for four 100-watt solar panels for $186. I'd like to know if it's feasible to connect 12 of these panels together and what additional components I should be aware of for a successful setup.

Yes, you can connect them! It's pretty straightforward as long as the inverter can handle it. Just link each panel together and connect them to the inverter using MC4 cabling. It’s also wise to include a disconnect switch and a fuse in your setup. Just a heads-up though, $186 for four 100W panels isn't exactly a special deal; you can usually find them for $40-50 each on sites like eBay. Consider checking out larger panels if you're looking for more power.

To set up a solar system, you'll need the panels, a charge controller, a battery, and an inverter. If you're looking to connect 12 panels, make sure your inverter can handle the voltage. Check out this YouTube playlist that covers how to set up a small 12V system for more guidance!

What's your end goal with these panels? You can connect them in series to boost voltage, or in parallel to keep a steady voltage while increasing the current. Mixing the two is also an option based on your inverter and charge controller needs. Thinking about a specific setup can really optimize your system!
