What’s the Best Method to Cut an Access Hatch Neatly?

Hey everyone! I'm working on cutting out an access hatch, and my goal is to reuse the panel so the grain lines up perfectly. I was thinking a track saw with a thin blade might do the trick, and then finish the corners with a jigsaw. But I'm open to other suggestions! I also want to achieve round corners, which adds a bit of challenge. Would love to get your ideas on this! Here's a photo of the area for reference: [photo](https://ibb.co/cSNGSvMG)

A router is a solid choice for this. You can make a template and use a 1/8” flush trim bit to get those clean edges. It should give you the neat finish you're after!

Totally! A template is really easy to create, just make sure it's the right size. If you don’t have a router, a jigsaw with a straightedge works too, but don’t forget to put blue tape on the cut line to help reduce any tearout.

Reuse the original plug can be tricky! A small drill hole to start with a jigsaw could work well. Your track saw idea is great if you're comfortable with plunge cuts too! Just curious, do you have plans for staining or painting the plywood? If it's just for function, you could just cut it however you need and create a new plug for the hatch.
