For instance, I'll spend around $40 on seeds and soil amendments, and then harvest a lot of tomatoes and think, "This must be saving me money!" But I never really compare that to what I would spend if I bought them at the store. Do you keep track of your gardening expenses vs. your harvest? I started a spreadsheet this year, but it's already looking messy. I'm curious if anyone else has found a good way to track this or if we all just garden for the love of it without worrying about money.

I'm pretty sure I'm down a couple hundred dollars this year alone, and that's just on materials. If I counted all the water costs too, I'd be in even deeper. I reckon if you really want to save, you have to plant a lot more, but honestly, I'm just doing it for the fun now. Good luck to you, OP!
