I'm pretty new to woodworking and mainly do it for projects when needed. Right now, I'm trying to help my roommate's dog cope with thunderstorms. She's a Belgian Malinois, and despite my best efforts with noise machines and music, she still gets freaked out when it thunders. I'm thinking of building a 'thunderbox' that can fit under my desk, and I'm keen on making it as soundproof and low vibration as possible. I know the wood choice matters, but I'll also use other materials to dampen the sound. So, what type of wood would be ideal for this project?
