Why Am I Getting Tiny Paint Splatter When Rolling My Walls?

I'm painting my walls using a Wooster Pro Doo-Z roller cover (3/8) with Dunn-Edwards VersaSatin paint, but I've noticed that it's leaving behind a lot of tiny paint speckles on my floor and at the top of the baseboards. Despite not overloading the roller, these specks keep appearing, even when I use minimal paint. Could this possibly be attributed to the roller cover I'm using?

This issue is pretty common with traditional roller covers, especially if the nap isn’t very smooth. A drop cloth under your work area can help a lot. And if the splatter is persistent, using something like a scrubby sponge with a bit of diluted cleaner can help clean it up, just be cautious with what you're cleaning, like avoiding using certain cleaners on delicate surfaces.

I didn't think about using a cleaning solution! Thanks for the advice. I guess masking the baseboards would be a smart move too.

It sounds like you might be experiencing common spatter issues with paint rollers. It could be caused by rolling too quickly or using paint that’s too thin. The spinning motion of the roller can really send paint flying if you're not careful. Try rolling more slowly, and definitely keep a damp rag handy in case of spills. Also, using a drop cloth can save you a lot of cleanup hassle.

I’m using a thick paint and trying to roll slowly, but I’ll keep the damp rag trick in mind!
