I recently ordered large windows for my new place, but two of them ended up being too small. According to my contractor, they're each about 8cm too short and 4cm too narrow. He used insulating foam to fill the gaps and assured me it would look fine on both sides. However, I can't shake the worry that this isn't right, especially considering the climate here in Europe with its cold winters and hot summers. What are the potential risks of using so much foam? Am I overthinking this?

If the windows are framed and insulated properly, it should be okay, but honestly, I would've insisted on getting the correct windows to start with.
Filling a big gap with just foam isn't the best approach. I'd suggest having him frame it in securely with wood first, only using foam for weatherproofing after that. It's safer!
It really depends on who ordered the windows. If it was your contractor's mistake in measuring, they should cover the cost for the right ones. Don't let them off the hook on this one!
