I recently found some black stuff when I removed the silicone from my shower, which is less than two years old. I moved in around eight months ago, and the bathroom was renovated a few months before that. The other day, I noticed a gap in the silicone, so I pulled it out to reapply it and discovered both black substance and some brown gooey stuff. I suspect the black is mould. I treated it with mould spray, but it didn't seem to make a difference. After using a hair dryer and airing it out for about five hours, I re-siliconed it. Am I safe now? I haven't noticed any signs of leaks, like bad smells or loose tiles. Can anyone help me identify what this stuff is?

You're probably fine, but keep your eyes peeled! If it was mould, sealing it should stop it from spreading. Just make sure to keep that area dry and check back every few weeks for any signs of return. You did the right thing getting it sealed up.
Sealing over it might cause issues later if it was mould, though. If it starts peeling, you’ll need to clean it out thoroughly before reapplying caulk. But if your mould spray didn’t affect it, there's a chance it's not actual mould. Just monitor it for now!
It's understandable to be concerned! That black stuff might look like mould, but sometimes it can just be a deep gap or debris. If you've applied the mould spray and it didn't budge, that's a good sign it might not be serious. Just keep an eye on it, and if it doesn’t grow back, you should be okay.
