I believe that solar energy is not just a trend anymore, but a smart financial move, even if your area doesn't offer direct financial benefits. Whether your goal is to lower your electric bills, aim for an off-grid lifestyle, or reduce your carbon footprint, solar energy seems to have a solution for everyone. Has anyone here made the switch to solar lately? How has it been working out for you?

I started off small with 600 watts of panels, a 2kW inverter, and 200Ah of batteries. It powers my fridge, computers, and some lights. My only expense now is a $14 monthly connection fee. Way better than dealing with Idaho Power!
I’m planning a DIY 12kW system with battery backup, but I'm looking at 2026 to get it done. I want to install it on a garage carport, but I still need to build that first!
I recently installed a system with 13.3kW of panels, a 10kW hybrid inverter, and 22kWh of batteries. It set me back about AUD$15,000, but now my electricity bill is zero—they even pay me! Over the next decade, I’ll make at least $35,000 since I was previously spending $5,000 a year. Honestly, better returns than many stock market investments!

Is that just the material cost? How many panels did you use? That's a killer deal compared to US prices!
