What Flowering Bushes Thrive in Low Sun and Poor Soil?

I'm living in zone 7b and have a spot under our large front window that would be perfect for one or two flowering bushes. We previously tried planting Rhododendrons, but they wilted and died very quickly despite my efforts with fertilizer, water, and mulch. I'm looking for recommendations for other flowering plants or bushes that would thrive in that area and add some beauty to our garden.

You should definitely check how much sunlight that spot gets—do you know if it catches any morning sun? Also, enriching the soil with some compost and good garden soil could really help your plants thrive. If it does get a bit of sun, hydrangeas could be a lovely choice for you! They usually do well in those conditions.

I was pondering about hydrangeas too, but I'm unsure if that area gets enough light for them.
