I have a five-year-old daughter who is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum, and she absolutely loves flowers. It's a bit tricky to keep her from picking flowers in our neighbor's gardens since they look so lovely! I'd like to plant some flowers of my own for her to enjoy picking. I'm not really concerned about the appearance; I'm just looking for flowers that are non-toxic and easy to care for. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

You could try planting nasturtiums, snapdragons, and violas or pansies. They're all edible, so they're safe for your daughter to pick and play with!
For spring, consider tulips, daffodils, and crocuses. They need some initial care when planting, but after that, they're pretty low maintenance. You might also want to look into marigolds and sunflowers for the rest of the growing season; they're also easy to manage! Just a heads up though, be careful with daffodils as they can be toxic to kids.

Yeah, just to clarify, all parts of the daffodil are indeed toxic, so make sure they're not within reach!
