Best Ways to Remove Old Wallpaper?

Asked By CreativeWanderer92 On

My son just moved into an apartment that has this really old wallpaper from the 1970s. Since he's renting from family, he has to handle the removal himself. He started by using warm water and soap, which helped get most of it off, but there's still some sticky residue left behind. Is there a better method, maybe with chemicals, that could help with the removal? Any tips would be appreciated!

Steam is actually super effective for getting rid of wallpaper adhesive. If you have a steamer, give it a go! The heat helps lift the residue right off.

I found that using TSP mixed with warm water works wonders! Just remember to wear gloves since it can be a bit harsh. I had to deal with some stubborn wallpaper in my own place and TSP was definitely the best solution I tried.

What exactly is TSP? It sounds complicated to use!
