I'm looking to create a picture frame that's designed to withstand outdoor conditions. I won't be placing a photo inside; I'm just aiming for something long-lasting. I'm considering using composite materials, like wood-grain PVC trim, but I'm also thinking about using Trex decking boards. The challenge is that I'd need to rip the boards to the correct width, and I have concerns about how the cut edges will look. Are there specific outdoor faux wood trim pieces that would work well for this? Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Using composite materials is a great choice! They're easy to work with since they'll cut like wood, and the cut edges should match the finished ones pretty well. You might want to get a sample and test it out before you commit. Good luck with your project!
A circular saw blade will do the trick for cutting Trex boards, but be aware that ripping can be a bit messier than cross-cutting. If you need perfect 45-degree angles, a chop saw is the way to go. Alternatively, you could consider pressure-treated wood, but just keep in mind that it may not hold up as well over time along the corners.
Trex could definitely work here. Plus, you might find some leftover scraps from deck projects that you can grab for free! Just be sure to check how the cut edges will look compared to the finished surfaces, as they may differ quite a bit.

That's a great idea! I'll look around for any scraps. Thanks for the tip!
