I recently moved onto a piece of acreage and have been clearing land to improve its look and function. While I've mostly removed underbrush, I've kept the mature trees and now I'm looking to plant tall fescue or a similar type of grass where that brush used to be. However, the costs at big box stores seem outrageous for the amount I need. I'm hoping to buy around ten 40lb bags of tall fescue mix. Can anyone suggest where I can find bulk grass seed at a better price?

Check out local farm supply or feed stores; they usually have way better prices on grass seeds compared to the big box stores. If your land is surrounded by woods or fields, though, tall fescue might not be the best choice since weeds will be a problem. Instead, I recommend looking into contractor mixes or pasture blends, which are not only cheaper but also more robust against weeds.
It really depends on your location, but if you're in an area where landscaping licenses aren't required, you might want to check local landscaping supply stores. For example, in NC, you can find high-quality tall fescue for about $98 for a 50lbs bag, while those lesser quality ones at the big box stores can be $219 for a 40lbs bag. Huge difference!
Farm stores and landscaping suppliers are your best bets for bulk seeds. Just keep an eye on what you're buying—sometimes cheap options are mislabeled and could lead to issues like weed growth. You might want to read some reviews on products before making a purchase.
