I'm in the market for an engraving pen or a power tool to complement my wood carving projects, and I'm eager to try my hand at engraving various materials like metal, stone, and glass. However, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the options available. I've heard some good things about Resparked and Kincrome tools, but I wanted to get insights from those who have actual experience with them. Are these brands worth considering, or is there something better out there? Also, I'm on a budget of £60 or less; the Resparked pen goes on sale for about £50, while Kincrome seems to be around £30, both of which seem reasonable to me. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I checked both brands you're asking about. The Kincrome comes with just one bit, so you'd need to pick up extras separately, which can affect the total price. On the other hand, the Resparked package has more bits included, but those are mostly diamond bits and neither has speed control, which is essential for working on different materials to avoid damaging them. Personally, I use a battery-powered rotary tool from the dollar store that's super versatile; it comes with multiple bits and speed control, and it cost me around €40 for everything! Not saying you should go that route, but it could give you more options since it’s bulkier but very functional.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown! Just curious though, what’s the difference between 'diamond bits' and 'diamond tips'? I also checked those recommendations you gave, but unfortunately, it looks like they're only available in stores in France, and I can't get them shipped to the UK. Appreciate your help!
