How Can I Fix My Ruined Kitchen Cabinet Paint Job?

Asked By CreativePineapple89 On

I attempted to paint my kitchen cabinets but ended up making a mess with drips and uneven spots. I really can't afford to hire a professional painter, and now I'm feeling super stressed about how to fix it. Does anyone have tips or tricks for making my cabinets look decent again?

Definitely sand and repaint! I also use Sherwin Williams Emerald for a lot of my projects. Just be careful while applying it. After brushing, use a foam roller to minimize those pesky drips. If you notice some uneven spots after a couple of coats, don’t stress; just sand those down and repaint those specific areas. It should blend in nicely and give your cabinets a fresh look!

It sounds like sanding and repainting are your best bets. There’s really not an easy fix for drips. Start by sanding down the rough areas, then apply a good quality cabinet paint. I've had success with Sherwin Williams Emerald semi-gloss. Just remember to brush it on first, then roll with a foam roller right after to reduce drips and achieve a smooth finish. After two coats, it should look pretty good! If you do see a drip or two, just sand it down and touch it up. You'll get there!
