I'm planning to tackle some caulking in my bathroom, but I've also got a silverfish and ant issue in my house. They seem to be hiding in tiny crevices, especially around the base of my walls. Is it okay to caulk between my wooden floors and the wall? Do I need a specific type of caulk for areas outside the bathroom or kitchen? My house is pretty old, and there are many small cracks where these insects are lurking, so sealing them up would be super helpful.

If you don't deal with the bugs first, you'll only be moving them around. They'll just show up in another part of your home.
Generally speaking, silicone caulk is best for wet areas. For other spots, you can use different types of caulk. Just keep in mind that "silicone" is just one kind of caulk—there are other options like latex and urethane you can consider too.
For your bathroom, silicone caulk is a solid choice, especially around the tub. But for the areas between the wooden floor and the wall, you might want to go with a more budget-friendly latex caulk. However, I’d recommend getting an exterminator to spray for those bugs first, just to make sure you’re not just pushing them somewhere else before sealing up those cracks.

That makes sense! I’ll definitely prioritize extermination before sealing things up.
