Why Isn’t My Showerhead Working After Changing the Diverter?

I've been having problems with my tub spout for a while now, specifically with low water pressure and water still leaking from it when I try to use the showerhead. I decided to replace the diverter, but I accidentally got the wrong one. After cleaning the spout a bit, I put the old diverter back in, but now my showerhead won't deliver any water at all. I'm not sure what went wrong. Any ideas?

It sounds like there might be a clog somewhere in the valve cartridge or even in the showerhead itself. A good first step would be to take off the showerhead and check if there’s any debris blocking the water flow. Sometimes, just cleaning that can solve the problem!

But would that really cause it to stop working altogether if it was fine just before changing out the diverter?
