I recently moved into a high-rise apartment on the 30th floor, and I've been noticing some strange issues that I'm not sure how to explain. Here's what I've been dealing with:
- My knees, and to some extent my ankles, get sore after standing or walking around for just 5-10 minutes.
- I feel extremely lethargic; lifting anything, even a chair, feels exhausting. I'm not out of breath, but my movements just feel sluggish.
- Interestingly, my walking style seems to change while I'm in the apartment—I notice a more pronounced stomp. But as soon as I step outside, my walking feels completely normal again.
- There's no dizziness or vertigo, but the whole experience feels a bit off; it's as if I'm not quite balanced. Sitting in this apartment feels different compared to other places I've lived.
I'm a young adult in decent health with no prior knee issues or conditions like arthritis or flat feet. These symptoms weren't present in any of the other high-rise buildings I've been in, nor in houses at similar altitudes. I don't think it's just the flooring material either; I've walked on various surfaces without issues elsewhere.
Any thoughts on why I'm feeling this way? Could this be related to sick building syndrome, uneven flooring, or perhaps something unique about the building itself?

It’s definitely worth checking if your floor is uneven! Try putting a small ball or marble on the floor and see if it rolls. Also, if the building is really tall, it might even sway a bit. That can be exhausting until your body gets used to it. Could be your legs are just adjusting to the height and movement there!
It’s possible you're experiencing some mild symptoms related to Sick Building Syndrome. Fatigue and joint pain are on the list, so you might want to consult a doctor if it gets worse. Just keep an eye on your symptoms!
Have you thought about checking the air quality or any potential gas issues? Things like gas stoves or bad air from an elevator shaft might be affecting you. It’s also good to see if other people in the building are experiencing similar symptoms.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely consider visiting a doctor if things don’t improve.
