What Are Your Recommendations for HEPA Air Purifiers in a Large Room?

I'm looking for recommendations on HEPA air purifiers that effectively clean the air from dust, smoke, and mold spores in my large, unfinished bonus room. There's a dry and dusty field across from my home, and the winds tend to blow that dust towards my house. While I've noticed some ongoing construction work nearby, I'm trying to figure out the best way to tackle the air quality issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Check out the Leviot CORE 600S—it's a heavy-duty unit that tackles dust and construction odors effectively. It’s really solid for larger areas and should help significantly!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely look into that one.

You could go with an air scrubber instead of a typical consumer air purifier. Scrubbers are larger and much more powerful, which might be what you need for heavy-duty filtering! But remember, they can be loud. However, addressing the source of the dust is key, too.

Sounds reasonable! I’ll need to find an affordable scrubber that can handle mold filtering, especially since I'm dealing with some in the attic soon.

Consumer models are great for general stuff like dust and dander, but a scrubber might be the way to go.

Before diving into air purifiers, you might want to consider air sealing the room to prevent dust from coming in. Have you checked if your windows need resealing or replacing? It could save a lot of hassle with airborne dust later!

I appreciate the suggestion! Sealing everything sounds expensive, but I definitely notice gaps in the subfloor and air leaks around some window sills that need fixing.

For sure! Sealing the windows and checking for drafts can make a big difference.

If you're on a tight budget, consider making a 'Corsi Rosenthal box'—just a box fan with four furnace filters taped together. It might not look great, but it does the trick for reducing dust!
