Hey everyone! I need some advice on how to safely get rid of soft glue residue from untreated wood. I rescued some slats and a frame from a discarded Ikea mattress, but there's this super sticky adhesive where the foam and fabric were attached. Scraping hasn't worked, and I'm worried that sanding will damage the wood. I'm considering a few options: saw off the surface, keep scraping, dissolve it with acetone or petrol, or maybe use a heat gun or propane flame. What do you guys recommend?

Have you thought about using a cabinet scraper? It can help get the glue off without damaging the wood too much. You can find one at most hardware stores.
You might want to try using denatured alcohol or mineral spirits - they can work pretty well for removing sticky residues. Acetone is another option, but just be cautious with it on the wood since it might strip away some oils too. It’s good to test it out on a small area first before going all in.
