I'm really into DIY projects and have a soft spot for gaming handhelds, especially the Ayaneo Flip DS. I'm considering making my own gaming handheld and would love to hear your thoughts on it. What do you think?

Before diving in, you might want to assess your experience in PCB design, software, and 3D printing. Do you have access to microcontroller boards and the necessary tools? If you’re a student, this could be a great project to tie into your studies to get access to your university's electronics labs. It could be a fun learning experience!

Go for it, but keep in mind that building a functional prototype might take some time. You could aim for something simpler at first, like a Raspberry Pi-based handheld. It's definitely doable! Grab a Pi, a screen, some buttons, speakers, and a battery to start. There's tons of online resources to help you through the electronics part. Just be cautious if you’re thinking of creating everything from scratch; that’s quite a leap!

Yeah, I was thinking of using Raspberry Pi and RetroPie too. Seems like a solid option!
