Can I pour new concrete over my slanted slab to fix drainage issues?

I've got a backyard with a big concrete slab (13x24 feet) that was poured incorrectly—it's one solid piece with no joints and it slants towards my house, causing water to pool after it rains. I want to know if I can just put a new layer of concrete over it and slope it away from the house. Is this a viable solution? Thanks in advance!

I once had a contractor suggest creating a separation with something like styrofoam between the old and new concrete. It worked perfectly for my case, so if you're looking at adding a new layer, that could be an option, provided there's enough thickness. Just keep that in mind!

Pouring a new layer isn’t recommended. You really need a stable base for any new concrete. I'd suggest looking into slab jacking—that seems to be a more effective solution.

I agree, stability is key! Make sure to get a professional opinion on the right approach.

You should consider hiring a slab jacking service to lift the lower side of your slab instead of pouring more concrete over it. That way, you can effectively solve the drainage issue without compromising stability.
