DCD1007 vs DCD806 for Light Home Drilling

Hey everyone! I'm asking this for a friend who isn't a heavy user of drills. He's mainly looking to do simple tasks like drilling into wall studs and making some basic furniture. He's specifically interested in drills with anti-kickback features, which leaves him with the options of the DCD801, DCD806, and DCD1006. Currently, the DCD1006 is on sale for $230, which is the best deal he's found. However, the 801 and 806 are either priced the same or up to $100 more. Given that he isn't keen on heavy drills but doesn't want to skimp on quality, do you think he should opt for the heavier DCD1006 since it's the most cost-effective option?

Go for the DCD801! The bare tool is around $140 if you already have batteries. But if you want the kit with two 4Ah batteries, it’s about $239, which is a great deal for an extra $100!

I've been considering the same! The DCD1007 comes with an 8ah power pack on Amazon for $230, which is tempting. I even did a price match at Lowe's for in-store pickup but might cancel my order. It's a tough choice because you're getting a great deal on a heavy-duty drill, yet I agree that a heavier drill can be cumbersome, especially for overhead work. But hey, if you’re only using it for a few minutes here and there, it might be worth it!

Yeah, I totally get you! Sometimes it's good to have that extra power, even if you don't use it often. It definitely gives off a cool vibe when you can show it off!

I would recommend the DCD801 for him. Unless he's using hole saws, the DCD1007 is kind of overkill. My DCD999 usually just sits on the shelf unless I need to drill some really big holes.
