I spotted climbing roses priced at £2.50 in Home Bargains, and they came in a beautiful peach color. They're pot roses with green waxed ends, and I'm considering trying them out instead of spending a fortune on David Austin roses. Do you think these would thrive as climbers planted in a 60-gallon barrel filled with a mix of topsoil, manure, and compost?

I've planted quite a few of those inexpensive roses over the years, and they've generally performed really well. Honestly, my David Austin varieties have been a lot more hit or miss!
I can't say for sure about the Home Bargains ones, but I got a similar cheap rose from The Range and it's my top performer. It's also the only one that's shown complete resistance to black spot! Check out this link for more.

I completely agree! The best roses in my garden were actually from a Poundshop. The pricier ones tend to be less successful for me too.
