Ideas for an Odd Dryer Vent Setup in My Garage

Hey everyone! I'm dealing with a bit of a headache here: my dryer vent is situated pretty far from where my dryer needs to go in my garage—about 6 feet up a wall and on a perpendicular wall with a door in between. I've been getting mixed advice about how to handle this, and I'm thinking about running a long exhaust pipe from the dryer to the vent. I really want to ensure this is done efficiently to avoid lint and moisture buildup since the garage gets super hot here in Central Florida. Right now, I'm using an indoor dryer vent, but it makes the garage feel like a sauna, which isn't ideal considering the potential for mold growth.

The appliances are designed to sit along the wall where there's also a 240v dryer outlet and washer drainage, so I'm planning to swap the positions of my washer and dryer to gain some extra space. From there, I plan to use as much rigid aluminum pipe as possible (following this red line) and then switch to flexible pipe (the green line). I'm also considering adding a lint trap partway through the duct for easier cleaning because my current setup isn't perfect.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my plan and any suggestions you might have, especially about:

1. Dryer duct booster fans—are they necessary?
2. External dryer duct lint traps—do they really help, or do they just restrict airflow too much?
3. Better ways to manage indoor vents to keep my garage from turning into a sauna.

One alternative you could consider is relocating your 240v to the other side of the door so your dryer could be right below the vent. If that’s not feasible, a ventless dryer might be something to think about down the line. Your current plan sounds solid, but I wouldn’t stress over a duct booster fan yet; you can always add one if you find it necessary later. Honestly, using an indoor vent will probably always add some moisture, so just be aware of that!

I thought about that, but with a car parked in there, it would be super tight. I’d prefer it to just work where it’s currently sitting. We might look into a ventless dryer later, but for now, this is the plan. Thanks for the suggestion!
